One night only! Denver Public Library’s Fresh City Life and The GLBT Community Center of Colorado present a legendary film, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? hosted by the nation’s premier Bette Davis impersonator, Matthew Martin. In 1962, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford shocked the world with their sensational roles in the instant cult film What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? The film was an international hit and re-ignited public interest and curiosity in Davis and Crawford, two grand dames of Old Hollywood.
Now this weird film has been remade starring Matthew Martin, a San Francisco entertainer, actor and cabaret performer who has won audience and critical praise for his sharp and humorous impersonation of Bette Davis, The film, titled simply Baby Jane?, is in post-production and set for a 2010 release.
Denver film buffs, Bette Davis fans and anyone with a camp sensibility are invited to a special one-night-only event: Matthew Martin (as Bette Davis as Baby Jane) hosting the classic 1962 gothic horror Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? A perfect prelude to Saturday’s Halloween festivities, Martin’s exclusive Denver engagement will have audience members screaming with laughter…or horror. There will also be a special teaser of the new film, Baby Jane?, introduced by Martin.
The fun starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 30 at the Tivoli Turnhalle ballroom. This fundraising event for both Denver Public Library’s adult cultural programming (Fresh City Life) and The GLBT Community Center of Colorado, will also feature Vivienne Vavoom and her Burlesque As It Was troupe, as well as the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus.
